I cannot figure out how to set this up. The instructions are so vague.

is the 72" measurement a diagonal measurement?
Yes it is the diagonal measurement

is the PRJTP60 (or 72) suitable for use with short throw projectors, (0.69 to .89 throw ratio)? Short throw projectors tend to distort with wrinkles or imperfections.
